To me, Choose to Lead is a choice we can make each day. When we listen carefully to a question and take the next useful step, leadership belongs not only to the person on a stage, but also to the person who responds to a need and sees a task through.
Since its founding in 1984, JCI Queensway has been a place where young people can meet, learn and try. Members arrive with different professions, experiences and interests. A single activity, responsibility or project can offer a starting point, and collaboration can reveal possibilities none of us would have found alone.
Our four areas—Business, International, Community and Leadership—are connected paths. Business helps us understand brands, enterprises and markets. International opens conversations across places and cultures. Community turns care into service. Leadership helps us move from taking part to taking ownership.
You do not need a complete answer before you begin. You might attend an activity, explore a community question, help deliver one part of a programme or exchange perspectives with partners from another place. Each contribution is a practical exercise in communication, coordination, judgement and responsibility for the result.
In 2026, I hope Queensway continues to be a place where members help one another grow. When we share knowledge, offer honest feedback and keep working together through different views, individual progress becomes team strength. A strong team can then make it easier for more people to find a way in.
Whether you are meeting JCI for the first time or have served in different roles for years, I invite you to explore the four areas at your own pace. Start with curiosity, learn through action, respond to the community through service, and choose to step forward when your contribution is needed. That is what Choose to Lead means to me, and the 2026 chapter I look forward to building with you.
