Our practical suggestions

Queensway suggests: explain your ability with one example

Young people interested in cultural retail or customer service can turn a school, volunteering or community experience into a short account of the task, what they did and the result. Include it in a CV and practise a one-minute introduction. No related experience required still calls for preparation: list your available working times and ask the employer about pay, training, part-time arrangements and workplace. Queensway members can exchange CV and interview-practice methods through Individual Development activities. These are Queensway preparation suggestions, not the organiser’s selection criteria.

  • Do I meet the age, school-leaver, education, employability and previous-employment restrictions, and have I confirmed eligibility with YETP?
  • Can I use one concrete example to explain how I collaborate, solve a problem or serve others?
  • Have I booked and confirmed an interview slot, prepared my documents, and checked pay, hours and training arrangements?
